Q & A

Who Can Audition?

The show is appropriate for an audience of all ages, and most roles are teen-centric. Anyone who will be in the 6th - 12th grade in the fall is eligible to audition.

How to Audition?

All auditions are "virtual & live".
To select a day/time for a 15-minute audition with the director, via zoom, go to:

calendly.com/risingstarsytc

Audition Booked - Now What?

Before singing, please state your name, age, and the name of the song. Then begin.

1. Singing: You should come prepared for a 45-90 second song. Sing with a backing track with no vocals, please.

2. Acting: You will read a monologue given to you at the Zoom call audition to read you do not need to memorize a monologue.

3. Dancing: If you are called back for a lead you will be asked to create a short 30 -60 second video, highlighting your dance moves.

What If I Don't Want a Lead, But I Want to Be in the Show?

Please note that there are ensemble roles that focus on vocals and ensemble roles that focus on dance. If you are most comfortable doing one but not the other, feel free to tell us in your audition. There is a small ensemble group that sings a cappella (a challenging vocal skill!) and they don't have to be skilled dancers - while there are other opportunities for passionate dancers who don't have as much experience singing. There are roles for many types of talent in this show! Your job is to show us your own individual strengths so we can decide if we have a place to use your unique abilities.
